Daniel Shilling
Health, Safety & Technical Advisor - Designated Safeguarding Lead
I’ve been passionate about theatre ever since I joined STAMP 17 years ago at the age of 7. That early involvement inspired me to pursue a career in the field, and after leaving school, I graduated from Newcastle College with a foundation degree in Technical Theatre and Stage Management.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of roles, from starting as a technician on cruise ships to casual technician at Sunderland Empire and Gala Theatre Durham. I also spent time as a full-time technician at The Customs House before joining the team at Sunderland’s brand-new, state-of-the-art venue, The Fire Station. Starting as Senior Technician, I’ve since progressed to Technical Manager, where I oversee the production of over 300 shows each year.
Alongside my technical career, I’ve always remained connected to performing. I still take part in STAMP’s annual pantomime, a tradition I love, and I’ve had the opportunity to play lead roles in productions such as Thirteen the Musical, The Wedding Singer, and Legally Blonde.
Throughout my career, I’ve continued to support STAMP’s technical productions whenever possible. I’m also proud to serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and to advise on Health and Safety.
